Leonardo Da Vinci said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Jack Kerouac said, “One day, I will find the right words, and they will be simple.“ I love texture and touch. My paintings and my furniture reflect my infatuation with these two characteristics. From the materials I select, to the way I craft each piece; these two remain my focus.

Fonder generally paints for four to five hour stretches in the morning (her favorite time, when she “hasn’t had the experiences of the day yet – the world is fresh”) using combinations of organic materials - hemp, silk, linen, organic pigments and Venetian plaster. She seeks to evoke the calmness and airiness of the natural world and create a tranquil environment through her work. As she says, “Mother Nature makes color better than man ever can...and our eyes instinctively know it.”
